Tina Mwasha, First Tanzania Woman Mining Processing Engineer On Her Commitment To Make A Difference

In the beginning of May, 2014, I visited Tanzania for meetings with small scale gold miners seeking certification. It was set up by Fair Trade International. I came as a fair trade gold jeweler, and the only commercial agent from North America.

One of the organizers on the ground from Fair Trade Africa was Tina Mwasha, Tanzania’s first woman mineral processing engineer. She grew up in a small village and got a scholarship for her education. Then, she devoted her time to working to improve the lives of small scale miners. She had been working to train and educate the small scale gold miners. Because of her hard work, and the work of others from Fair Trade Africa, our meetings were very successful.

In a two previous posted videos, Tina expresses how Fair Trade can improve the lives of gold miners expresses and why we should care about fair trade gold.

This short clip of Tina has a slightly different angle. She explains, briefly, why she personally is so committed to the work she does.
