How To Secretly Determine Your Fiancé’s Ring Size

The last thing you want to do is present the perfect ring to your partner only to find out that it does not fit.Determining the correct ring size is absolutely critical.

Jewelers are just as invested in getting your ring size right the first time as you are. While simple bands without gems are generally easy to stretch up or take down on a machine, engagement rings with gemstones set in them may require a difference process. Sometimes the ring has to be cut, or the gems have to be removed and reset.

Resizing just about any engagement can be done, but the process can be time consuming, expensive and technically difficult. That’s why jewelers, particularly smaller custom shops that make rings per order by hand as we do in our company, are generally very reluctant to start a new order unless there is certainty of ring size.

Secretly Determine Ring Size. The last thing you want to do is present the perfect ring to your partner only to find out that it does not fit. Here are some tips.

The ideal way to find out your partner’s ring size is to get a ring normally worn on the wedding ring finger, and bring it to a jeweler for sizing. You can also download and print this sizing chart if you can only get the ring for a short time.

Another option, more risky and stealthy… We have ring sizers: plastic contraptions with numbers on them that look like wire ties. We can send one to you in a first class envelope. If you induce him or her into a deep and peaceful sleep (just use your imagination to figure this out), you can determine his or her size. We have had customers successfully use this more challenging method. Note that the same finger on the left and right hand can vary significantly.
