The Adversus Flora Bridal Ring Set is handmade in our Santa Fe, New Mexico studio. We chose this pairing of the Plana Engagement Ring with our Flores Wedding Band with diamonds, because the juxtaposition between the two is perfectly balanced. The yellow gold band of the engagement ring brings out the flowers of the band, while the melee diamonds of the band are illuminated and drawn out by the scintillating center diamond of the engagement ring. DESIGNER

Helen Chantler is Reflective Jewelry's Lead Designer, CEO, and founder. Originally from England, Helen spent much of her childhood in Southeast Asia — and has traveled extensively to many countries across the globe. When she eventually landed in Santa Fe, NM in 1986; she began her foray into metalwork as a leather belt-making apprentice. She soon evolved into jewelry-making at the same shop, delving into traditional handmaking techniques of the American southwest.

In Helen's extensive designs, developed over nearly 3 decades, you'll find interwoven inspirations from Helen's Celtic heritage, her fierce connection to Mother Nature, and her deep love of her chosen hometown of Santa Fe. ETHICAL SOURCING

Accent Gemstones: Diamond

Our accent diamonds either come from certified recycled sources, or are lab grown. We source our accent sapphires from companies that have a traceable and transparent supply chain. Most other accent gems are purchased on the open market, and are not available from sources that we can trace all the way back to the mine. Our Ethical Leadership:

We pioneered ethical sourcing in North America and started making jewelry with Fairtrade Gold in 2011. In April 2015, we became the first certified Fairtrade Gold jeweler in the USA.

We have attempted to work for years with Fairtrade International as a commercial liaison to create a viable commercial program that would build the movement. Because of major interests that oppose such a move (while claiming to support it), we are still the only certified Fairtrade Gold jeweler in the USA.

We have been active in these issues for over 15 years; from founding Fair Jewelry Action, the first ethical jewelry blog that evolved into a human rights and environmental justice network, to running numerous campaigns to the public and jewelry trade promoting environmental justice and human rights. Most recently we published the Ethical Jewelry Exposé and published several feature articles in Jewellery Business Magazine.

In our own bio-region, we initiated and co-led a campaign to successfully block a gold mine south of our Santa Fe home and remain active on local boards to preserve Santa Fe and surrounding regions from drilling and mining.

Recycled Precious Metal:

This design only uses precious metal that is certified as recycled, by a third party. This metal comes from a variety of industrial sources. Once refined, it has the exact same composition as a precious metal that was mined directly from the Earth.

Center Gemstone: Canadian Diamond

This center stone was mined and cut in Canada. We also offer upon request lab grown diamonds. An in-depth comparison of our diamond sources can be found here.

Gold Source:

Our two-tone, gold-over-silver pieces are made entirely with gold from a Fairtrade certified mine.

With solid gold pieces, we offer recycled gold and Fairtrade Gold. Here’s a comparison of the two. But here’s the bottom line: recycled gold has no ecological or social value. It is dirty gold rebranded as eco-friendly.

Please note: we started 2021 by trading 12 ounces of gold purchased from customers for 10 ounces of Fairtrade Gold, and we are transitioning to using Fairtrade Gold throughout our in-house manufacturing, whether customers choose the extra expense or not. Sometimes our mounts and bezels are still made with recycled gold, because they are not yet available in Fairtrade Gold.

Fairtrade offers the millions of people working in artisanal mining in developing countries the best chance to work their way out of poverty and exploitation. Fairtrade Gold is mined by small-scale miners in a safe, fair, and ecologically-responsible manner.

Gemstone Source:

We source our larger diamonds, .25 carats and above, from Canada. Smaller diamonds are recycled. Our sapphires, rubies, aquamarines, and many of our emeralds are traceable to a few specific small-scale mines. We work with a world class gem dealer who has exceptional relationships with the local mining communities. He has even been featured in National Geographic. We’ve known him personally for over twenty years and through him we can offer a solid chain of custody. Comfort Fit is a descriptive term that describes the curvature of the inside surface of these rings. While many rings are flat on the interior surface, the center of a Comfort Fit interior surface is convex. That convex surface is what primarily touches the flesh of your finger. The Comfort Fit ring's outer edges are slightly wider than the center and therefore has less contact with your skin. Making it a more comfortable fit.

If you are determining your size, please use a narrow sizing band for rings 4mm and under. Use a wide sizing band for rings over 4mm. We can send you a ring sizer for free upon request.
